An 87-year-old man, Yaw Gahornu, will spend the next two decades in hard labour after a Gender-Based Violence Court found him guilty of defiling a minor.
The harrowing details emerged after the victim’s mother found bloodstains on the child’s clothes in late August.
The young girl revealed that Gahornu had been sexually assaulting her for two months, threatening to kill her if she spoke out.

The abuse was finally exposed when the suspect’s own granddaughter witnessed an incident and alerted the family.
The Tesano Police Command secured the conviction, and the Accra Regional Police Command is urging the public to remain vigilant and report all forms of child abuse.
The police reaffirmed their dedication to protecting the vulnerable.
