A suspected armed robber has died following an intelligence-led anti-robbery operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The operation, carried out on March 18, 2026, targeted a robbery gang believed to be behind a series of attacks terrorising residents and commuters in the area.
During the operation, one of the suspects, Amadu, also known as “Manu,” sustained gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead.
Police have linked the deceased to a robbery attack along the Atebubu–Ejura highway on March 14, 2026, during which armed men fired into a moving vehicle, injuring a passenger.
Items retrieved from the suspect include a single-barrelled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and cash amounting to GH¢200.
Authorities have indicated that the operation has been intensified to track down and arrest other members of the gang.
