A father is demanding justice following the death of his daughter, allegedly caused by her boyfriend, a Kumasi businessman.

The businessman has been remanded by an Asokore Mampong District Court for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death following a jealous dispute over another woman.

Francis Arthur, 48, is accused of killing Sally Benson, a popular beautician and pub owner, on April 14, 2026, at Ayigya-Maxima in Kumasi. The couple had been in a relationship for over a decade.

Prosecution told the court that the deceased, accompanied by a female friend, went to Arthur’s residence after learning that another woman had visited him. Arthur was not home at the time. When he returned, Benson confronted him, leading to a violent argument.

According to Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare, Arthur allegedly beat Benson repeatedly until she collapsed. He then transported her in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where medical staff confirmed she had died on arrival.

The accused made his first court appearance on Tuesday before Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter, who remanded him into custody. He is scheduled to reappear on May 8, 2026.

Outside the courtroom, the victim’s father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, struggled to contain his grief. He described his daughter as the only child of her late mother and called for the full weight of the law.

“Sally got information that a lady had come to this man, so she went there. When the man finally came, Sally confronted him, and it generated into a heated argument. According to the friend, the man beat Sally till she fell,” Oppong said.

“Just like that, you’ve killed my daughter. I want justice. We are all in a nation governed by law. May the government of Ghana make the laws work for us.”

The body of Sally Benson, owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special pub, has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Police say investigations are ongoing.
