The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced new prices for sachet water, raising the ex-factory price to GH¢8 and setting a maximum retail price of GH¢15 per bag, effective Monday, April 6, 2026.
The association attributed the increase to surging production costs, particularly for polymers used in packaging, worsened by the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has disrupted global supply chains and driven up raw material prices.
Under the new regime:
- Ex-factory price (per bag of 30 sachets, 500ml): GH¢8
- Ex-truck price: GH¢10
- Maximum retail price: GH¢15
In a statement issued on April 2, NASPAWAP said the adjustment had become inevitable as producers could no longer absorb rising input costs.
“The rising costs have made it challenging for manufacturers to maintain current prices,” the association noted.
NASPAWAP urged retailers and distributors to adhere to the recommended pricing to ensure market stability and fairness.
“This adjustment is necessary to sustain production and ensure the continuous supply of safe drinking water,” the statement added.
Sachet water remains the primary source of drinking water for most households and small businesses across the country, meaning the price increase is expected to have a widespread consumer impact.
