Fire has ravaged the ICT laboratory of the Gushegu Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Northern Region.
The blaze broke out early Monday morning, 17th August 2026, and quickly spread to an adjoining classroom before firefighters from Yendi, 61 kilometres away, arrived to contain it.
The fire was extinguished at 09:13 hours. No injuries or deaths have been reported.
The Ghana National Fire Service has launched an investigation into the cause of the incident that damaged the ICT laboratory and an adjacent classroom.
According to official reports, the fire erupted in the computer laboratory during the early hours of the day.
A team of firefighters from the Yendi Fire Station was dispatched to the scene, covering a distance of approximately 61 kilometres to undertake firefighting operations.
The crew successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the college.
Though there were no fatalities or injuries recorded, property including computers, furniture, and learning materials sustained significant damage.
The GNFS has assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing to establish the origin and cause of the fire. Further updates will be communicated in due course.
