The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested 14 suspects in an intelligence-led operation targeting large-scale narcotic cultivation at Daliga in the Nabdam District.
The suspects, Alex Nyaaba, Charles Keleg Dombil, Zimi Pandam, Jennifer Ziini, Tobirr Naab, Yinteng James, Tosil Wandabil, Sandanane Peehim, Borimi Nohoo, Curim Teng, Curim Kugri, Nohou Dagobila, and Abane Zangbeog, were taken into custody on 16th August 2026 during a joint operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) and the newly formed Black Cobra Team.
A search of the area uncovered a large cache of suspected Indian hemp cleverly concealed in sacks of millet and maize.
Preliminary findings suggest the illicit crop was deliberately interplanted with legitimate grains to camouflage the farms and avoid aerial or ground detection.
The suspects are believed to be major suppliers feeding a network of drug peddlers across the region.
They remain in Police custody and will be arraigned before the court to face the full rigours of the law.
