The Ghana Police Service has made a significant breakthrough in the gruesome murder case of Dr. Jesse Amuah and his wife, Elizabeth Esi Amuah, with the arrest of their former errand boy following his deportation from the United Arab Emirates.
Suspect Abraham Awendok, 32, was taken into custody upon his arrival in Ghana on August 30, 2026, after investigators from the Police Anti-Robbery Unit and Interpol coordinated his handover from Dubai.
Authorities confirmed that Awendok had fled to the UAE shortly after allegedly killing the couple, who were reported missing in April 2026.
At a press briefing on Monday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu revealed that forensic investigations led to the grim discovery of the couple’s remains at locations connected to the suspect.
The bodies have since been transferred to the Police Hospital for preservation and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
According to police sources, Awendok did not stop at murder; he is also accused of stealing a substantial sum of money belonging to the couple’s mother before making his international escape.
An Interpol Red Notice was swiftly issued, leading to his identification and subsequent deportation by UAE authorities.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the double homicide. Police have also successfully recovered the vehicle he allegedly stole from the victims.
Awendok remains in police custody as the investigation continues, with the IGP assuring the public that additional updates will be released as the case unfolds.
