The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, including a 66-year-old woman and her son, in connection with the unlawful possession of narcotic drugs in Dormaa Ahenkro.
Mary Awuni, 66, and her son Maxwell Akukah, 29, were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation at Kumi Daa Street (KDS) in the Dormaa Central Municipality.
Police recovered 147 parcels of suspected Indian hemp, 270 boxes and 329 blisters of Tramadol, 14 blisters of Rohypnol, and cash totaling GH¢87,751, along with CFA 2,000.
Awuni claimed the money and drugs found in her possession had been given to her by a man in Accra for delivery to Côte d’Ivoire, while her son said the items found in his room belonged to his brother, who was reportedly outside Dormaa Ahenkro.
The Police Command said the suspects are assisting with investigations and assured the public of its commitment to the fight against narcotics offences.
