After weeks of long queues and frustrated commuters, help has finally arrived.

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, announced in a Facebook post that 100 new 29-seater buses have touched down in the country.

These buses are the vanguard of a larger fleet of 300 procured by the government to resolve the ongoing transport crisis.

“In the meantime, 100 buses have arrived to ease recent road transport challenges,” the Minister wrote.

“Another batch of 100 will arrive in August, with the last batch of 100 arriving in November.”

The arrival follows a difficult period for commuters, many of whom were left stranded at terminals and bus stops due to a shortage of vehicles.

The Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, had previously assured the public that the government was taking steps to address the disruptions.

With the first 100 buses now ready for deployment, immediate relief is finally in sight.

The subsequent deliveries later this year aim to ensure that the nation’s public transport network is stronger and more reliable for the long haul.
