Three Arrested for Robbing Market Women on Yeji–Kumasi Road

The Ghana Police Service’s Anti-Armed Robbery Surveillance Unit has captured three suspected highway robbers linked to a violent attack on market women at Parambo Sewaba, near Yeji, on June 1, 2025.

The armed men allegedly ambushed the women, fleeing with cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.

According to Yeji Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Asiamah Emmanuel, the trio, Mohammed Ahmadu (30), Osmanu Abubakar (35), and Sumaila Mohammed (25), had been on police radar for a while.

They are suspected of orchestrating multiple robberies along the Yeji–Kumasi highway and routes to Prang, Parambo, and Abromase.

The suspects have been hauled before the Atabubu Circuit Court and remanded for three weeks.

But the real shock came during a search at Ahmadu’s residence: six machetes, a motorbike, a tricycle, and three ID cards with different names.

Police have sent the vehicle details to DVLA for verification.

The Commander’s message to criminals still roaming the area is short and sharp: “We will not tolerate this.” Consider yourselves warned.
