Three Adabraka Jailbreakers Re-arrested as Police Dismiss Murder Case Links

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has successfully re-arrested three out of six suspects who escaped from custody at the Adabraka Police Station.

While a massive manhunt is underway for the remaining three fugitives, officials are moving quickly to debunk social media rumours regarding the escapees’ identities.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Relations for the Greater Accra Command, the police confirmed that an intensive operation is ongoing to track down the final three suspects.

“The Command has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape,” Supt. Obeng stated. “We have intensified our efforts to ensure the remaining escapees are brought to justice.”

Authorities are calling on the public to provide any credible information that could lead to the arrest of the fugitives by reporting to the nearest police station.

The Police Command also addressed and firmly refuted reports suggesting that the escapees were involved in the murder of Andrew Amankwah, the father-in-law of NDC Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi.

Officials clarified that the suspects linked to that specific case were never held at the Adabraka Police Station, making any connection between the jailbreak and the murder investigation impossible.

In a separate briefing, the Western Central Police Command confirmed that the suspects in the Ohwim (Kumasi) murder case remain securely in custody.

The three accused persons, Kojo Amponsah (alias Kamakazie), Emmanuel Appiah (alias Taller), and Tanko Bashiru (alias TK), have been remanded.

They are scheduled to reappear in court on May 7, 2026.
