President Mahama Orders Release of GH¢300m for Flood Relief After Accra Deluge

President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate release of GH¢300 million from the Contingency Fund to aid flood victims and strengthen mitigation efforts following Monday’s devastating rains.

An amount of GH¢150m will be for immediate relief (food, shelter, water, temporary accommodation).

The remaining GH¢150m will go into long-term flood mitigation (drainage and infrastructure).

Ghana Armed Forces and the Police have also been deployed to support NADMO in rescue operations.

President Mahama conducted an aerial assessment of the affected areas to evaluate the destruction and guide interventions.

Disbursement has been expedited to reach affected communities swiftly.
