It was a night of horror on the Accra–Tema Motorway as a fully-loaded fuel tanker exploded after a brutal head-on collision with a tipper truck.
The charred body of a man, believed to be the tipper driver, was pulled from the wreckage in the early hours of Tuesday.
The fire raged for nearly two hours, reducing 26 tyres to ashes and gutting both vehicles beyond recognition.

Three survivors, Kwabena Agyapong, Joseph Teye Quarshie, and Aaron Kyei, are battling for their lives at Tema General Hospital.

“It was like a bomb went off,” a witness reportedly said.
Firefighters battled the inferno until nearly 2 am.

Motorists are being urged to stay clear as crews work to prevent another disaster. What caused the crash? Investigators are yet to disclose.
