A fatal road traffic crash involving a trailer truck has claimed the life of one woman and left three men injured at Kariminga in the North East Region.
The accident occurred on Thursday, June 18, 2026, when a Takoradi–Burkina Faso-bound trailer carrying Twyford tiles veered off the road.
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a distress call was received at 9:48 a.m., prompting the deployment of a rescue team from the Upper East Regional Headquarters Sub-Station.

The team, led by Station Officer I Bright Atimbiok and a six-member crew, arrived at the scene at 10:21 a.m. and immediately commenced rescue operations.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered four occupants, three males and one female, trapped in the severely mangled trailer head.

The three male victims were successfully extricated and transported by the National Ambulance Service to the Upper East Regional Hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, the female occupant was found dead at the scene.
Her body has been handed over to the police for preservation and further investigation.
The rescue operation was supported by the Bolgatanga Municipal Commander, DO II Callistus Nibunu, and other senior officers.

Preliminary findings indicate that the trailer swerved off the road at Kariminga after a tricycle reportedly crossed its path.
In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver veered into a ditch and crashed into several trees, resulting in extensive damage to the trailer head and the destruction of most of the cargo.

However, some boxes of tiles were salvaged from the wreckage.
The operation concluded at 1:40 p.m., and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash
