In a ceremony blending healthcare delivery with chieftaincy tradition, the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, has been honored with a prestigious title in the Oti Region.
She was enstooled as the Nkosuohemaa (Development Queenmother) of the Akroso Asukawkaw Traditional Area, receiving the stool name Nana Oseadeeyo Odamewaa II.
The honour was conferred by the Paramount Chief, Nana Odam Gyamfi III, during the commissioning of a new ultra-modern maternal and child health facility.

The project, funded by the Lordina Foundation, was built in direct response to an appeal made by the chief on March 2, 2025, to address the growing healthcare needs of the community.

Explaining the rationale behind the enstoolment, Nana Odam Gyamfi III praised the First Lady’s “relentless efforts” in bringing quality healthcare to his people.
“We wish to reiterate our sincere appreciation to you and the Lordina Foundation for the provision of this facility for us,” he stated.

Accepting the honour, Mrs. Mahama expressed her gratitude to the chiefs and people.
She detailed the scope of the new facility, which features a reception area, doctors’ and nurses’ offices, a children’s ward, a maternity ward, a fully equipped operating theatre, and a neonatal intensive care unit.

She emphasized it is equipped with life-saving technology, including incubators, ultrasound systems, and solar panels for emergency power.
“This facility reflects our belief that no woman should die while giving birth, and no child should begin life without proper care, simply because of where they are born,” Mrs. Mahama said.

She noted that the Asukawkaw project is the fourth such facility completed by the Lordina Foundation, following similar projects in Bole, Nkoranza, and Bodom.
