Kintampo Police Arrest 13 Criminals, Seize Drugs

The Kintampo District Police Command has detained thirteen individuals suspected of criminal activity and drug peddling following a targeted security operation within the municipality.

In a statement issued by ASP Appiah Dankwa, Acting PRO for the Bono East Regional Police, the operation was launched on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in the farming communities of Babator and Kawampe.

Police disrupted groups of young men and women allegedly openly smoking and selling dried leaves believed to be cannabis. The suspects attempted to flee upon seeing the officers but were pursued and arrested.
Those apprehended are:
• Issahaka Amadu, 25 (Trader)
• Afia Sumaila, 32 (Trader)
• Yaw Johnson, 20 (Trader)
• Dankwa David, 30 (Trader)
• Abdul-Hakim Sumaila, 16 (Unemployed)
• Kofi Vandam, 24 (Farmer)
• Yambon Cornelius, 25 (Farmer)
• Jagri Seth, 22 (Motor Mechanic)
• Mubarick Manteiso, 36 (Labourer)
• Issahaku Abdul-Basit, 39 (Driver)
• Hamza Wedrago, 24 (Scrap Dealer)

The operation yielded a significant seizure of suspected narcotics and related items, including:
• 65 wraps of suspected cannabis
• 49 pieces of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis
• Compressed dried leaves in polythene bags
• 19 blisters of Tramadol tablets
• 5 blisters of a substance marked “red”
• Various cigarette packets (Oris, Royals, Rothmans)
• 4 keypad mobile phones, one radio set
• 4 pairs of scissors, 4 lighters
• Cash totaling GHS 682.80

The police confirmed that the seized items will be used as evidence. All suspects are currently in custody assisting with further investigations.

The Kintampo District Command reiterated its commitment to fighting crime and appealed to the public for continued support by providing credible information to enhance safety and security in the area.
