Woman Jailed 3 Years for Abducting 8-Month-Old at Kpando Market

A 31 ear old woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for abducting an eight-month-old baby at Kpando Market.

The Volta North Regional Command has recorded a successful prosecution in the case following a report filed on July 17, 2026, by Ms. Gloria Xagbe, which led to Police swiftly launching an investigation.

The suspect, Stella Amedzorme, was apprehended on July 18, 2026, and the eight-month-old victim was recovered without injury.

The case proceeded to the Kpando Circuit Court on July 20, 2026, with the suspect remanded. At her reappearance on August 3, 2026, Amedzorme entered a guilty plea.

The Court convicted her and sentenced her to three years’ imprisonment.

The Police are continuing efforts to apprehend a second suspect, the convict’s fiancé, who is believed to be the mastermind of the abduction.
