Unidentified Man Found Dead in Asylum Down Drainage Channel

Rescue personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have recovered the body of an unidentified young man from a drainage channel at Asylum Down, a suburb of Accra.

The Service said it received a distress call at the Fire Master Control on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

A rescue team from the Circle Fire Station was deployed within a minute to the scene, which is situated along a drainage channel feeding into the Odaw River, opposite the Iran Clinic.

The operation, led by ADO I Richard Helegbe, saw the team retrieve the lifeless body from the drain.

Authorities say the deceased is believed to be in his late 20s. His identity remains unknown as of Wednesday evening.

The body has been transferred to the Police for preservation and to facilitate further investigations.
