A newborn baby has been found abandoned inside a dustbin at the public toilet facility of the Kasoa Main Station in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
The discovery was made by a woman who had visited the facility to use the washroom.
According to eyewitnesses, she was met with a shocking sight upon opening the dustbin and immediately raised an alarm, drawing the attention of passersby and nearby traders.
Commercial drivers and other bystanders who responded to the distress call swiftly retrieved the infant from the bin and rushed her to the Kasoa Polyclinic for emergency medical care.
The baby is reported to be receiving treatment and is in stable condition.
The matter has since been formally reported to the police, who have launched investigations to determine the circumstances that led to the abandonment.
Authorities are also making efforts to identify and apprehend the person responsible for leaving the newborn at the facility.
