Ginger Farmer Arrested for Allegedly Cutting Off Suspected Thief’s Hand at Atwima Trabuom

The Toase Police have arrested a 30-year-old ginger farmer in the Ashanti Region for allegedly severing the hand of a 19-year-old suspected thief at Atwima Trabuom.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when the young man was allegedly caught attempting to steal ginger from a farm.

During the confrontation, his right hand was reportedly cut off.

Speaking to Adom News, the Unit Committee Chairman for the area, Kwadwo Amankwa, explained that the injured suspect had left home on Friday night and returned in the early hours of Saturday without his hand.

“I saw the young man a few days earlier with both hands intact, but on Friday morning, I met him with his right hand severed.

He named the ginger farmer as the one responsible,” Mr. Amankwa stated.

He also noted that the suspect had allegedly been visiting several ginger farms in the area before the incident.

The police were subsequently alerted, leading to the farmer’s arrest. He is currently in custody, assisting with investigations.
