Chaos in Kejetia as Traders Clash with KMA Task Force

Tensions exploded at Kumasi’s Kejetia Market on Thursday as traders violently clashed with a Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) task force during a high-stakes decongestion exercise.

The operation, aimed at removing unauthorized sellers, met fierce resistance, turning the market into a chaotic battleground.

With over 3,300 extra traders crammed into a facility already deemed a potential “death trap” by the Federation of Kumasi Traders, the confrontation was a long time coming.

JoyNews’ Emmanuel Bright Quaicoe reported that the task force’s eviction attempt was quickly disrupted as traders fought back, leaving the operation in tatters.
