Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has revealed he was forced to flee for his life after a woman claiming to be an EOCO official tried to drag him away without any identification or arrest warrant.
Speaking at a press briefing in Parliament on Wednesday, the visibly shaken MP recounted the terrifying ordeal at the Accra High Court.
“I told her, ‘Go, I will follow you,’ but she said she would forcibly take me into their vehicle,” he said. “She could not produce any evidence that she was indeed from EOCO.”
He noted that the woman had no arrest warrant.
“It became obvious to me that it was one of the recent kidnappings that have been happening,” he said. “I had to defend and protect myself for the benefit of the good people of Manhyia South, my children, and my whole family.”
The MP sped off to Parliament, where he said he found safety among his colleagues. But the drama wasn’t over, he alleged the woman tried to abduct him again while he was on his way to Parliament.
“I needed to put myself at a place where I would be safe so that I could also protect and defend the interest of my client,” he explained. “That is why I had to drive to safety.”
“I’ve come to Parliament, my colleagues are behind me, and I thank them very much.”
The incident followed a bail hearing for detained Techiman nurse Salomey Baffoe Awiti, who has been linked to the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
