by Creative Network

The Ghana Police Service has seized unauthorised sirens, strobe lights, and improvised headlamps from 188 vehicles in a special enforcement operation in the Ashanti Region, targeting drivers who flout road traffic regulations.

The exercise, conducted at the Airport Roundabout and Santasi Roundabout in Kumasi, was led by the Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD), with support from the Central MTTD and a team from National Headquarters.

Officers removed and confiscated illegal devices from intercepted vehicles, while drivers were educated and cautioned to comply with the Road Traffic Regulations.

The crackdown also targeted the unlawful use of road shoulders and verges, a growing concern for road safety authorities.

Police have signalled that similar enforcement exercises will be rolled out across the country as part of broader efforts to promote discipline, safety, and order on Ghana’s roads.
