A routine escort mission turned into a bloody confrontation in Binduri on Monday after “unknown elements” opened fire on a convoy of 140 civilians.

While the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) managed to shield the majority of the travellers, three civilians were killed and one was injured in the initial hail of bullets.

The military’s counter-offensive was swift, resulting in the deaths of seven attackers.

A subsequent manhunt led soldiers to a local mosque, where they retrieved a high-powered G3 rifle and a significant cache of ammunition from a fleeing suspect.

With 10 suspects now in custody, the GAF is reiterating its call for citizens to cooperate with security services, emphasizing that any aggression toward the military will not be tolerated.
