A popular TikTok content creator is in trouble with the law after authorities say he fabricated serious allegations against police officers simply to boost his online views.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 45-year-old Isaac Boafo, widely known on social media as “Duabo King.” He is being held for the publication of false news with the intent to cause fear and panic.

According to a police statement released on [Insert Day], the arrest stems from a viral TikTok video in which Boafo accused four police officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi of misconduct.

He alleged the officers engaged in inappropriate acts with commercial sex workers during night patrol duties at Asafo.

The accusations spread rapidly across social media, prompting an immediate intelligence-led operation by officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate. Boafo was swiftly apprehended and taken in for questioning.

However, during interrogation, the content creator’s story fell apart. Police report that Boafo admitted to publishing the video but conceded that the allegations were completely baseless.

Isaac Boafo reportedly told investigators that he fabricated the story solely to attract views and increase his online engagement as a social media creator.

He also admitted to making unverified comments about the President of the Republic for the same purpose, confessing that he could not defend any of the statements made.

“The suspect also acknowledged making comments concerning the President of the Republic for content creation and admitted that he could not defend those statements,” the police statement read.

“He has since been formally charged and detained to assist with further investigations.”

The incident has prompted a stern warning from law enforcement regarding the dangers of misinformation in the digital age.

“The Police wish to caution the public against the publication and circulation of false information, particularly on social media, as such acts have the potential to cause unnecessary fear, panic, and reputational damage,” the statement added.

“Persons found engaging in such conduct will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”

The case highlights the growing tension between the pursuit of online fame and the legal responsibilities that come with a massive digital platform.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the suspect’s online activities.
