A tragic motorcycle accident in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026, has claimed two lives and left one person injured at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The fatal incident occurred near Finest Pub along the busy Cape Coast–Kumasi highway. According to police reports, the crash involved two unregistered Royal motorbikes and resulted from a head-on collision.
Preliminary investigations by the Central North Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) reveal that a 25-year-old rider, Solomon Nyame, was traveling from Assin Juaso towards Assin Fosu at high speed. He was riding an unregistered motorbike with a 23-year-old passenger, Patience Pamful.
As Nyame approached a junction leading to the pub, he reportedly spotted another motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction. In an attempt to turn, he veered into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with a second unregistered Royal motorbike ridden by 19-year-old Daniel Agyeko.
The impact of the crash was severe, throwing all three individuals onto the roadside pavement and causing critical injuries.
All three victims were rushed to St. Francis Xavier Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, upon arrival, Daniel Agyeko and Patience Pamful were pronounced dead by medical staff.
The rider, Solomon Nyame, was admitted and is currently responding to treatment.
ASP Wonder Lumor, the Central North Regional MTTD Commander, confirmed the details of the crash to the press. He stated that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue, where they will be preserved pending a full investigation and an autopsy.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
