Police Arrest Three Suspects in Connection with the Murder of Kusasi Chief

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects into custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of the Kusasi Chief in Asawase, which occurred in July 2025.

Authorities have identified the detained individuals as Jamil Usman (also known as Babamu or Guru), Suleman Yasir Arafat (Obasanjo), and Ashiadu Sumbeida (Eyeshadow).

During a press briefing in Bekwai on Tuesday, March 17, Regional Commander DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba confirmed that the suspects will be transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command to assist with ongoing investigations.

He also noted that a primary suspect, Illiasu (Abodam), is currently evading arrest.

“We urge members of the public to provide credible information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect,” DCOP Nyaaba pleaded.

The operation led to the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, a pump-action gun, two pistols, and 44 rounds of .32 caliber ammunition.

The Commander commended the Inspector-General of Police for his support, lauded the professionalism of his officers, and thanked the public for their vital cooperation in the case.
