Police Arrest Assemblyman and Uncle for Forcing Minors into Sexual Act in Viral Video

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly forcing two teenagers, a 13-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, to engage in a sexual act.

The incident, which was filmed and widely circulated on social media, has sparked public outrage.

The suspects have been identified as Edward Azalekor, 52, the Assemblyman for the Effiakuma West Electoral Area, and Martin Amuzu, 35, who is the uncle of the female victim. Both men were apprehended on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Effiakuma.

According to a police report, the case came to light after a presenter at Connect FM received a disturbing WhatsApp video.

The footage depicts the suspects coercing the two minors into having sexual intercourse inside a shop, while other unidentified individuals are heard cheering and recording the incident.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the female teenager left her home on the afternoon of February 16, 2026, without informing her mother.

Upon her return around 7:40 p.m., her mother, angered by her actions, reportedly enlisted the help of the assemblyman, Mr. Azalekor, to discipline the girl.

The suspects then allegedly lured the male teenager to the scene and forced the minors to perform the sexual act.

The two accused persons were arraigned before the Harbor District Court in Takoradi on Friday, February 27. They have been granted bail in the sum of GHC 20,000 each and are scheduled to reappear in court on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

The female victim has been taken into protective custody by the Department of Social Welfare.

Police investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to locate and arrest Isaac Nana Osei, who is alleged to have filmed the incident and is currently at large.
