Head-On Collision Claims 15 Lives on Kumasi-Sunyani Highway

A tragic head-on collision between a Ford Transit bus and an ambulance on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, has left 15 people dead.

The accident occurred at Tikrom near Mankranso on the Kumasi-Sunyani road.

The Ford Transit bus, registered as GT K5676-19, was en route from Kumasi to Drobo when it collided with an ambulance transporting a pregnant woman from Drobo to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for emergency care.

According to authorities, all 15 passengers aboard the Ford Transit bus were killed instantly.

The condition of the pregnant woman and any other occupants in the ambulance has not yet been confirmed by officials. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Mankranso Hospital morgue.

Separate Fatal Knockdown in Kumasi

In an unrelated incident on Monday, March 2, 2026, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a private Ford vehicle at the Kumasi South Junction in New North Suntreso.

The driver of the vehicle, registration number 2821-15, reportedly stopped after the accident and surrendered himself to the North Suntreso District Police Command.

The victim’s identity remains unknown, but it is believed they were coming from the North Suntreso area.

Their body was left at the scene awaiting police conveyance to the morgue.

Police investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
