Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Suspect in Asokore Mampong Robbery Attack

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect in connection with a robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 21st July 2026, at Asabi, near Asokore Mampong.

According to the Police, the Asokore Mampong Night Patrol Team, while on routine patrol at approximately 12:20 am, received information that a male adult had been robbed of his mobile phone and was found lying unconscious near the Presbyterian Church at Asabi.

The patrol team responded immediately to the scene. Upon the arrival of the Police, the suspect fled and hid in an uncompleted building but was pursued and subsequently arrested. The suspect has been identified as Ahmed Mustapha, aged 19.

A search conducted on the suspect led to the retrieval of the complainant’s mobile phone and a machete, both of which have been retained as exhibits for investigative purposes.

The victim sustained machete wounds to the forehead, neck, and left hand. He was rushed to the KNUST Hospital, where he was admitted and is currently receiving treatment.

At about 5:30 am on the same date, Police officers visited the victim at the hospital. He had regained consciousness, was in a stable condition, and continues to receive medical care under observation.

The suspect remains in Police custody assisting with investigations.

Investigations are ongoing.
