One Dead, Seven Arrested as Police Swoop on Robbers Sharing Loot at Ejura Hotel

A police operation targeting suspects in a highway robbery on the Mampong-Ejura road turned deadly on March 30 when one of the suspects attacked an officer with a cutlass and was shot dead.

Seven others were arrested while allegedly sharing GH¢15,717 in cash at the Amakwa Dadey Hotel.

The suspects are linked to an armed attack on March 26 on a passenger minibus traveling from Kumasi to Atebubu.

During that incident, six armed men robbed 14 passengers of cash and mobile phones at Aframso Bridge.

The deceased suspect, Ibrahim Iddrisu, 43, had been wanted since 2023 for a separate robbery on the same road.

The seven suspects in custody are assisting with investigations, according to the Ashanti North Regional Police Command.
