Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Colombian winger Luis Díaz in a deal worth €75m (£65.5m), including add-ons. The German champions had an initial bid of £58.6m rejected earlier this month but have now secured the 28-year-old’s transfer.
Díaz was notably left out of Liverpool’s squad for their 4-2 pre-season defeat to AC Milan in Hong Kong amid ongoing speculation about his future. The Reds have granted him permission to travel from Asia to Europe to undergo a medical in the coming days.
With Díaz’s departure, Liverpool continue their attacking overhaul, having already secured the signings of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike this summer. The Merseyside club are also reportedly interested in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as they reshape their forward line.
For Bayern, Díaz will bolster their attacking options following the news that Jamal Musiala is set for a lengthy absence after suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup. The Colombian’s arrival will provide crucial depth as the Bavarians aim to maintain their domestic and European dominance.
