ECG Goes Cashless, Warns Against Fraud

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has officially moved to a fully cashless system, ceasing all physical cash transactions.

In a public notice, the company warned customers of fraudsters attempting to exploit payment processes.

ECG stressed that it never requests payments via phone calls.

All legitimate transactions must be personally initiated by customers through only two official channels: the ECG Power App or the USSD shortcode *226#.

The company urged heightened vigilance against unsolicited payment demands, advising customers to verify all requests.

Suspicious calls or messages should be reported immediately to ECG customer service at 0302-611611.

ECG emphasized that public cooperation is essential to combat fraud and protect against financial losses.
