A serious multi-vehicle collision on the N1 highway has claimed two lives and left 19 others injured, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The accident occurred on Monday, February 23, prompting an emergency response after a distress call was received at exactly 7:58 GMT.
In a statement released on Tuesday, February 24, the GNFS confirmed that rescue teams from its National Headquarters were swiftly dispatched to the scene.

They found that a Kia motor truck (GG 1304-18), a Sprinter bus (GX 8325-13), and a Volvo trailer (GT 7856-20) had been involved in the collision.
Emergency personnel worked diligently to extricate victims from the wreckage and provide immediate on-site medical care.

Of the 21 people involved in the crash, two tragically lost their lives at the scene.
The 19 survivors were rushed to Achimota Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital for further treatment.

“The service, working alongside other emergency responders, secured and managed the scene, prevented secondary incidents, and cleared the roadway to restore traffic flow,” the GNFS statement read.

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the fatal crash.
Extending its condolences to the bereaved families, the GNFS also wished a speedy recovery to those injured. In a renewed appeal to the public, the service urged all motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and prioritize road safety at all times.
