Three students from Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) have been arrested in connection with the mob attack on a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed.
The suspects, Benedict Appiah, 18, Bilal Mamud, 18 and 20-year-old Joseph Amoh, are in police custody.
According to a statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Central Regional Command, signed by Chief Inspector Isaac Evans Ettie on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, all three students are set to be arraigned before the court.
The suspects were handed over to the Swedru Divisional Police Command by school authorities at around 9:00 pm on February 23, 2026.
Their surrender came just hours after the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, held a meeting with school management and issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the identification and handover of students involved in the attack.
The Central Regional Command has condemned the violent conduct and urged students and the public to refrain from such acts.
The incident occurred on February 19, 2026, during the District Schools Athletics Games in Agona Swedru, when a student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School was assaulted by a group believed to be from SWESBUS.
COP Donkor noted that the victim is receiving medical treatment and responding well to care.
Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all persons found to be involved will face justice.
