The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has apprehended one suspect following a violent residential robbery in Obuasi last month that left a 42-year-old miner dead.
The suspect, Rahman Adams, alias ‘Wale’, was captured on January 18 in Pomposo during an intelligence-led police operation. His arrest is connected to the armed robbery at a house in the Asonkore SSNIT Flats Down area on December 12, 2025.
According to police reports, officers responding to the incident discovered the victim’s body inside the residence. Preliminary findings indicate that the assailants used tools to cut through a burgbar-proof window to gain entry.
During the attack, the robbers assaulted the deceased and made off with GH¢2,600 in cash, a laptop, and a vehicle ignition key. Investigators recovered hammers, machetes, and cutters from the crime scene.
Police have identified two other key suspects who remain at large: an individual known only as A.T. and a Nigerian national. Authorities state both played major roles in the robbery and subsequent murder.
The body of the victim has been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Rahman Adams is currently in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation. The Regional Command has confirmed that active efforts are underway to track down and arrest the two outstanding accomplices.
