Man Arrested for Firing Celebratory Gun Shots at Asake’s Event in Ghana

by Creative Network

A man has been arrested on the orders of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, after a video circulated online showing him firing multiple gunshots into the air in salute to Nigerian musician Asake.

The incident occurred during the “December in GH” festivities, where the man, identified as Abubakari Sadick—popularly known as “Cyborg”—was seen in a white mufti firing what he called “warning shots” in celebration of Asake, whom he referred to as his “brother from another mother.”

In the viral clip, Sadick is heard telling the crowd that warning shots are not permitted in Ghana, but that he was seeking “permission” from authorities to fire shots in honor of his guest. He then proceeded to fire 10 rounds into the air from a gun hoisted on his shoulder, as Asake and his friends cheered in celebration.

Following his arrest, police retrieved the firearm used in the incident. A police source confirmed to Graphic Online that the weapon is a DERYA MK-12, with serial number 22-GHA 1162.

Sadick remains in police custody as investigations continue.
