Former President Muhammadu Buhari Passes Away in London
Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to Muhammadu Buhari, confirmed the ex-president’s death in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In his statement, Ahmad shared: “The family of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has announced his passing this afternoon at a London clinic. May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Amin.”
Buhari served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, following an earlier tenure as military head of state (1983–1985). His presidency was marked by anti-corruption campaigns and economic stabilization efforts.
The family is expected to release details regarding funeral arrangements in line with Islamic traditions.
