Beware of Social Media Account Takeovers! It Is Real, Stay Alert – Cyber Security Authority Tells Ghanaians

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has cautioned the general public to stay alert against against social media account hackers or takeovers.

According to reports, there is an “alarming increase in the number of Social Media accounts taken over by malicious persons”, hence, the CSA’s caution.

This comes after the country’s president, John Dramani Mahama’s X account was hacked.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the CSA shared ways of protecting ones account from malicious attacks and how to report such acts.

Citizens are by a notice encourage to report any suspicious activity that may tarnish the image of another or the country through a mobile App CSA Ghana or E-mail to reports@csa.gov.gh or connect to the office on whatsapp number 0501 603 111 for assistance.

Alternatively, one may also call or send a message to the shortcode 292 or visit www.csa.gov.gh/report. “Beware of Social Media Account Takeovers! IT IS REAL, Stay alert.”
