President John Dramani Mahama has paid solemn tribute to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, honoring her as an inspirational figure and a exemplary role model for women across Ghana.
He said this on Thursday, 18th September, 2025 in a tribute delivered on his behalf by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, when he joined the Asante Kingdom and the nation in mourning the Queen Mother’s passing at age 98.
The President described the late Asantehemaa as “a majestic pillar of strength and inspiration,” whose influence extended far beyond the Manhyia Palace to the entire nation. He praised her eight-year reign for its steadfast dedication to preserving the values and traditions of the Asante Kingdom, which she embodied with profound dignity and a commitment to peace.
Reflecting on her wisdom, President Mahama noted the invaluable guidance he received during his visits to Kumasi, benefiting from her “profound insights and unwavering dedication to the welfare of our people.”
He specifically highlighted her legacy as a pathfinder for women, stating she was “a worthy role model, particularly for the women of Asanteman and Ghana at large,” due to her unmatched devotion to service.
The President also shared First Lady Lordina Mahama’s personal reflections on the Queen Mother’s warmth and generous hospitality, which made visitors feel a genuine sense of belonging.
President Mahama acknowledged that her passing leaves a deep void, but concluded that her full and purposeful life, and the lasting impact she made, will continue to motivate future generations.
He offered a final farewell: “Nana Hemaa, mother of all, rest in perfect and eternal peace.”
