Akufo-Addo Urges NPP Aspirants to Prioritize Party Unity and Issue-Based Campaigns

Former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has underscored the critical importance of unity and a credible, issue-based electoral process ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

Convening a breakfast meeting with the five flagbearer aspirants, (Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong) on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the former President articulated his unwavering commitment to a cohesive and properly rallied party.

He expressed his profound esteem for each aspirant, acknowledging their merit and significant contributions to both the party and the nation.

“My primary commitment is to the unity of the NPP, the credibility of the process, and to working towards a properly energised and rallied party, fully prepared to secure victory in the 2028 elections,” Akufo-Addo stated.

He specifically encouraged the aspirants to conduct their campaigns in a healthy manner, focusing on presenting substantive visions to party delegates.

In response, the aspirants collectively assured their commitment to a respectful and competitive process, pledging their full support to the eventual nominee to preserve party unity.

The meeting, convened to foster camaraderie ahead of the party’s presidential primaries, was also attended by key party figures including the Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang; Acting National Chairman, Danquah Smith Buttey; and General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong. Also in attendance were the former Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare and Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
