Agradaa Pays GH¢100,000, Issues Public Apology to Settle Empress Gifty’s Defamation Suit

Self-acclaimed evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, has publicly apologised and paid GH¢100,000 to gospel star Empress Gifty, bringing an end to a high-profile defamation lawsuit.

The settlement, which has now been formalised as a binding consent judgment by the Tema High Court, resolves lawsuits filed by Empress Gifty in May and June 2025. She had accused Agradaa of making statements that damaged her reputation.

In a press statement dated January 20, 2026, Agradaa’s lawyers, Agyaa Asamani Law Consult, confirmed the resolution was reached through private dialogue. The agreed terms include the payment, a public retraction of the disputed statements, and a formal apology.

Empress Gifty’s initial writ had sought GH¢40 million in damages for alleged slander and libel, an injunction to prevent further defamatory comments, removal of related social media content, and full legal costs.

As part of the final settlement, the GH¢100,000 payment from Agradaa is specifically to cover Empress Gifty’s legal fees and related expenses. In return, Empress Gifty has relinquished all other claims connected to the suit.

Confirming the amicable resolution, Edem Mensah-Tsotorme, manager for Empress Gifty, stated, “Agradaa has already apologised and paid the GH¢100,000 covering legal fees and expenses related to the cases.”

With the consent judgment entered, the legal dispute between the two public figures is now officially concluded.
