53-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Selling Narcotics-Laced Alcohol

A major bust in the Ashanti Region has led to the arrest of a suspect accused of peddling narcotics-laced alcohol.

The Drug Law Enforcement Unit arrested Adjei Owusu Afriyie, 53, following an intelligence-led operation at a spot in Akyeremade.

Police confiscated a significant haul, including seven barrels of local gin, 56 bottles of Alomo gin containing akpeteshie, and containers of sobolo.

Preliminary tests suggest the drinks were mixed with illicit drugs.

The suspect is in custody as police work to identify potential accomplices.
